HIP210460V, 1A/2A Peak, Half Bridge Driver with 4V UVLO and Two Internal LDO’s 12V and 3.3V | Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits | 2 | Active | The HIP2103 and HIP2104 are half-bridge drivers designed for applications using DC motors, 3-phase brushless DC motors, or other similar loads. The two inputs (HI and LI) independently control the high-side driver (HO) and the low-side driver (LO). HI and LI can be configured to enable/disable the device, which lowers the number of connections to a microcontroller and the cost. The low IDDbias current in the Sleep Mode prevents battery drain when the device is not in use, which eliminates the need for an external switch to disconnect the driver from the battery. Integrated pull-down resistors on all of the inputs (LI, HI, VDen, and VCen) reduce the need for external resistors. An active low resistance pull-down on the LO output ensures that the low-side bridge FET remains off during the Sleep Mode or when VDDis below the Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO) threshold. The HIP2104 has a 12V linear regulator and a 3. 3V linear regulator with separate enable pins. The 12V regulator provides internal bias for VDDand the 3. 3V regulator provides bias for an external microcontroller (and/or other low voltage ICs), which eliminates the need for discrete LDOs or DC/DC converters. |
HIP2106ALow Voltage Driver for Synchronous Rectification | Evaluation Boards | 2 | Obsolete | The HIP2106A is a high frequency MOSFET driver optimized to drive two N-channel power MOSFETs in a synchronous buck converter topology. This driver, combined with Renesas multi-phase buck PWM controllers, forms a complete single-stage core-voltage regulator solution with high-efficiency performance at high switching frequency for advanced microprocessors. The HIP2106A is biased by a single low voltage supply (5V), minimizing driver switching losses in high MOSFET gate capacitance and high switching frequency applications. Each driver is capable of driving a 3nF load with less than 10ns rise/fall time. Bootstrapping of the upper gate driver is implemented using an internal low forward drop diode, reducing implementation cost, complexity, and allowing the use of higher performance, cost effective N-channel MOSFETs. Adaptive shoot-through protection is integrated to prevent both MOSFETs from conducting simultaneously. The HIP2106A features 4A typical sink current for the lower gate driver, enhancing the lower MOSFET gate hold-down capability during PHASE node rising edge, preventing power loss caused by the self turn-on of the lower MOSFET due to the high dV/dt of the switching node. The HIP2106A also features an input that recognizes a high-impedance state, working together with Renesas multi-phase 3. 3V or 5V PWM controllers to prevent negative transients on the controlled output voltage when operation is suspended. This feature eliminates the need for the Schottky diode that may be used in a power system to protect the load from negative output voltage damage. |

HIP2210100V, 3A Source, 4A Sink, High Frequency Half-Bridge Drivers with Tri-Level PWM Input and Adjustable Dead Time | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 2 | Active | The HIP2210 is a 100V, 3A source, 4A sink high-frequency half-bridge NMOS FET driver. The HIP2210 features a tri-level PWM input with programmable dead time. Its wide operating supply range of 6V to 18V and integrated high-side bootstrap diode supports driving the high-side and low-side NMOS in 100V half-bridge applications.
This driver features strong 3A source, 4A sink drivers with very fast 15ns typical propagation delay and 2ns typical delay matching, making it optimal for high-frequency switching applications. VDD and boot UVLO protects against an undervoltage operation.
The tri-level input of the HIP2210 PWM pin controls the high-side and low-side drivers with a single pin. When the PWM input is at logic high, the high-side bridge FET is turned on and the low-side FET is off. When the input is at logic low, the low-side bridge FET is turned on and the high-side FET is turned off. When the input voltage is in the mid-level state, both the high-side and low-side bridge FETs are turned off. The PWM threshold levels are proportional to an external input reference voltage on the VREF pin, allowing PWM operation across a 2.7V to 5.5V logic range.
The HIP2210 is offered in a 10 Ld 4x4mm TDFN package. |
HIP2211100V, 3A Source, 4A Sink, High Frequency Half-Bridge Drivers with HI/LI Input | Development Boards, Kits, Programmers | 5 | Active | The HIP2211 is a 100V, 3A source, 4A sink high-frequency half-bridge NMOS FET driver. The HIP2211 features standard HI/LI inputs and is pin-compatible with popular Renesas bridge drivers such as the HIP2101 and ISL2111. Its wide operating supply range of 6V to 18V and integrated high-side bootstrap diode supports driving the high-side and low-side NMOS in 100V half-bridge applications.
This driver features a strong 3A source, 4A sink driver with very fast 15ns typical propagation delay and 2ns typical delay matching, making it optimal for high-frequency switching applications. VDD and boot UVLO protects against an undervoltage operation.
The HIP2211 is offered in 8 Ld SOIC, 8 Ld 4x4mm DFN, and 10 Ld 4x4mm TDFN packages. |
HIP4080A80V/2.5A Peak, High Frequency Full Bridge FET Driver with Charge Pump and Input Comparators | Full Half-Bridge (H Bridge) Drivers | 2 | Active | The HIP4080A is a high frequency, medium voltage Full Bridge N-Channel FET driver IC, available in 20 lead plastic SOIC and DIP packages. The HIP4080A includes an input comparator, used to facilitate the hysteresis and PWM modes of operation. Its HEN (high enable) lead can force current to freewheel in the bottom two external power MOSFETs, maintaining the upper power MOSFETs off. Since it can switch at frequencies up to 1MHz, the HIP4080A is well suited for driving Voice Coil Motors, switching power amplifiers and power supplies. HIP4080A can also drive medium voltage brush motors, and two HIP4080As can be used to drive high performance stepper motors, since the short minimum on-time can provide fine micro-stepping capability. Short propagation delays of approximately 55ns maximize control loop crossover frequencies and dead-times which can be adjusted to near zero to minimize distortion, resulting in precise control of the driven load. The similar HIP4081A IC allows independent control of all 4 FETs in a Full Bridge configuration. |
HIP4081A80V/2.5A Peak, High Frequency Full Bridge FET Driver with Charge Pump and Independent Control Inputs | Full, Half-Bridge Drivers | 4 | Active | The HIP4081A is a high frequency, medium voltage Full Bridge N-Channel FET driver IC, available in 20 lead plastic SOIC and DIP packages. The HIP4081A can drive every possible switch combination except those which would cause a shoot-through condition. The HIP4081A can switch at frequencies up to 1MHz and is well suited to driving Voice Coil Motors, high-frequency switching power amplifiers, and power supplies. For example, the HIP4081A can drive medium voltage brush motors, and two HIP4081As can be used to drive high performance stepper motors, since the short minimum on-time can provide fine micro-stepping capability. Short propagation delays of approximately 55ns maximizes control loop crossover frequencies and dead-times which can be adjusted to near zero to minimize distortion, resulting in rapid, precise control of the driven load. A similar part, the HIP4080A, includes an on-chip input comparator to create a PWM signal from an external triangle wave and to facilitate hysteresis mode switching. |
