MCP2221AUSB 2.0 to I^2C/UART Protocol Converter with GPIO | Interface | 11 | Active | The MCP2221A is a USB-to-UART/I²C serial converter which enables USB connectivity in applications that have a UART and I²C interfaces. The device reduces external components by integrating the USB termination resistors and the oscillator needed for USB operation. The MCP2221A also has four GP pins providing miscellaneous functionalities (GPIO, USBCFG, SSPND, Clock Output, ADC, DAC, interrupt detector).
**The MCP2221A is identical to the MCP2221 in all aspects except for the maximum supported baud rate of the UART, which has been increased from 115200 (MCP2221) to 460800 (MCP2221A). All MCP2221 USB Drivers and Software can be used for the MCP2221A.** |
MCP22301Stand-Alone USB Type-C® Power Delivery 3.1 Controller | Uncategorized | 4 | Active | The MCP22301 is a stand-alone, small form factor USB Type-C® Power Delivery (PD) Port Controller compliant with the USB Type-C® Power Delivery 3.1 Specification. The MCP22301 provides stand-alone operation for a wide range of PD applications, enabling cable plug orientation and detection for a USB Type-C® receptacle, and implementing baseband communication with the connecting USB Type-C® device via the integrated USB Power Delivery 3.1 MAC.
The MCP22301 is an integrated PD solution with the functionality of a SAMD20 (32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+) microcontroller and a MCP22350 PD MAC/PHY. Optionally, a second, third, or fourth PD port is supported via SPI connection to additional external Microchip MCP22350 devices. The embedded 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+ executes the Microchip USB Power Delivery Stack (PDS). The MCP22301 devices are shipped blank and require programming with compiled application specific code before operation. Programming is supported by Microchip's industry standard MPLAB X IDE programming environment.
The PDS is a light weight USB PD stack that is designed to integrate any suitable powerful MCU with Microchip's MCP22301 standalone Type-C® PD controller and MCP22350 Type-C® PD controller to realize multi-port custom PD solutions. PDS provides a range of configuration options for your custom PD design and is portable to many MCUs.
The PDS firmware stack allows for a wide range of USB Power Delivery applications, including but not limited to: USB PD v3.1 fixed and Programmable Power Supply (PPS) source only applications, Multi-Port PD Source, VCONN sourcing and Fault Handling, and I2C and GPIO Mode DC/DC control. The PDS firmware stack is a continuously deployed open source stack. Not all features that are able to be supported by the MCP22301 device are necessarily supported by PDS. The supported features may be expanded over time. Additional feature development or status of basic feature development may be requested through Microchip support channels.
By integrating the PD firmware and many of the analog discrete components required for USB Type-C® PD applications, the MCP22301 provides a flexible, stand-alone, PD solution for designers who wish to integrate the PD operation with a system controller, implement a custom power supply circuit, support unique PDOs or charging algorithms, or simply control their own PD code. |
MCP22350Highly Integrated Small Form Factor USB Type-C® Power Delivery 3.1 Port Controller | Controllers | 4 | Active | The MCP22350 is a highly integrated, small form factor USB Type-C® Power Delivery (PD) Port Controller designed to adhere to the USB Type-C® Cable and Connector Specification and USB Power Delivery 3.1 Specification. The MCP22350 provides cable plug orientation and detection for a USB Type-C® receptacle and implements baseband communication with a partner USB Type-C® device via the integrated USB Power Delivery 3.1 MAC. The MCP22350 is designed to function as a Companion Power Delivery Controller to an external Microchip MCU/SoC using the integrated SPI interface. The device is capable of controlling the Power Delivery current and voltage using an external power device.
The MCP22350 integrates many of the analog discrete components required for USB Type-C PD applications, including two VCONN FETs with Rp/Rd switching, a power switch, and current and voltage sense circuitry for over-voltage/current detection. By integrating many of the analog discrete components required for USB Type-C PD applications, the MCP22350 provides a low cost, low power, small footprint solution for Consumer (Notebooks, Desktop PCs, Smartphones, Tablets, Monitors, Docking Stations) and Industrial (Point of Sale Systems, Printers) market segments. |
MCP230088-Bit I2C I/O Expander with Serial Interface | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 5 | Active | The MCP23X08 device provides 8-bit, general purpose, parallel I/O expansion for I2C bus or SPI applications. The two devices differ in the number of hardware address pins and the serial interface:
• MCP23008 – I2C interface; three address pins
• MCP23S08 – SPI interface; two address pins
The MCP23X08 consists of multiple 8-bit configuration registers for input, output and polarity selection. The system master can enable the I/Os as either inputs or outputs by writing the I/O configuration bits. The data for each input or output is kept in the corresponding Input or Output register. The polarity of the Input Port register can be inverted with the Polarity Inversion register. All registers can be read by the system master. |
MCP230098-Bit I2C I/O Expander with Open-Drain Output | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 4 | Active | MCP23009 is an 8-bit I/O expander with I2C™Compatible interface operating at speeds of up to 3.4MHz. The MCP23009 is available in 18-pin PDIP (300 mil), 18-pin SOIC (300 mil) and 20-pin SSOP packages. |
MCP2301616-Bit I2C I/O Expander | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 3 | Active | The MCP23016 is not recommended for new designs. Please consider using the [MCP23017](https://www.microchip.com/en-us/product/MCP23017) or [MCP23018](https://www.microchip.com/en-us/product/MCP23018) instead.
The MCP23016 device provides 16-bit, general purpose, parallel I/O expansion for I2C™Compatible bus applications. It includes high-current drive capability, low supply current and individual I/O configuration. I/O expanders provide a simple solution when additional I/Os are needed for ACPI, power switches, sensors, push buttons, LEDs and so on. |
MCP2301716-Bit I2C I/O Expander with Serial Interface | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 7 | Active | The MCP23017/MCP23S17 (MCP23X17) device
family provides 16-bit, general purpose parallel I/O
expansion for I2C bus or SPI applications. The two
devices differ only in the serial interface:
• MCP23017 – I2C interface
• MCP23S17 – SPI interface
The MCP23X17 consists of multiple 8-bit configuration
registers for input, output and polarity selection. The
system master can enable the I/Os as either inputs or
outputs by writing the I/O configuration bits (IODIRA/B).
The data for each input or output is kept in the
corresponding input or output register. The polarity of
the Input Port register can be inverted with the Polarity
Inversion register. All registers can be read by the
system master.
The 16-bit I/O port functionally consists of two 8-bit
ports (PORTA and PORTB). The MCP23X17 can be
configured to operate in the 8-bit or 16-bit modes via
IOCON.BANK.
There are two interrupt pins, INTA and INTB, that can
be associated with their respective ports, or can be
logically OR’ed together so that both pins will activate if
either port causes an interrupt.
The interrupt output can be configured to activate
under two conditions (mutually exclusive):
1. When any input state differs from its
corresponding Input Port register state. This is
used to indicate to the system master that an
input state has changed.
2. When an input state differs from a preconfigured register value (DEFVAL register).
The Interrupt Capture register captures port values at
the time of the interrupt, thereby saving the condition
that caused the interrupt.
The Power-on Reset (POR) sets the registers to their
default values and initializes the device state machine.
The hardware address pins are used to determine the
device address. |
