ISL62392CHigh-Efficiency, Triple-Output System Power Supply Controller for Notebook Computers | PMIC | 6 | Active | The ISL62392C controller generates supply voltage for battery-powered systems. It includes two pulse-width modulation (PWM) controllers, adjustable from 0. 6V to 5. 5V, and a linear regulator (LDO3) that generates a fixed 3. 3V and can deliver up to 100mA. The ISL62392C includes on-board power-up sequencing, a power-good (PGOOD) output, digital soft-start, and internal soft-stop output discharge that prevents negative voltages on shutdown. The patented R3PWM control scheme provides a low jitter system with fast response to load transients. Light-load efficiency is improved with period-stretching discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) operation. To eliminate noise in audio frequency applications, an ultrasonic DCM mode is included, which limits the minimum switching frequency to 28kHz. The ISL62391, ISL62391C and ISL62392, ISL62392C are identical except for how their overvoltage protection is handled. The ISL62391C utilizes a tri-state overvoltage scheme, whereas the ISL62392C employs a soft-crowbar method. The ISL62392C is available in a 28 Ld 4x4 TQFN package and operates over the extended temperature range (-40°C to +100°C). |

ISL6256AHighly Integrated Battery Charger with Automatic Power Source Selector for Notebook Computers | Power Management (PMIC) | 2 | Active | The ISL6256, ISL6256A is a highly integrated battery charger controller for Li-ion/Li-ion polymer batteries. High Efficiency is achieved by a synchronous buck topology and the use of a MOSFET, instead of a diode, for selecting power from the adapter or battery. The low side MOSFET emulates a diode at light loads to improve the light load efficiency and prevent system bus boosting. The constant output voltage can be selected for 2, 3 and 4 series Li-ion cells with 0. 5% accuracy over-temperature. It can also be programmed between 4. 2V + 5%/cell and 4. 2V - 5%/cell to optimize battery capacity. When supplying the load and battery charger simultaneously, the input current limit for the AC adapter is programmable to within 3% accuracy to avoid overloading the AC adapter, and to allow the system to make efficient use of available adapter power for charging. It also has a wide range of programmable charging current. The ISL6256, ISL6256A provides outputs that are used to monitor the current drawn from the AC adapter, and monitor for the presence of an AC adapter. The ISL6256, ISL6256A automatically transitions from regulating current mode to regulating voltage mode. ISL6256, ISL6256A has a feature for automatic power source selection by switching to the battery when the AC adapter is removed or switching to the AC adapter when the AC adapter is available. It also provides a DC adapter monitor to support aircraft power applications with the option of no battery charging. |

ISL6262A2-Phase Core Controller (Santa Rosa, IMVP-6+) | Power Management (PMIC) | 5 | Obsolete | The ISL6262A is a two-phase buck converter regulator implementing Intel® IMVP-6+ protocol with embedded gate drivers. The two-phase buck converter uses two interleaved channels to effectively double the output voltage ripple frequency, and thereby reduce output voltage ripple amplitude with fewer components; lower component cost; reduced power dissipation; and smaller real estate area. The heart of the ISL6262A is the patented R3Technology™, Intersil's Robust Ripple Regulator modulator. Compared with the traditional multiphase buck regulator, the R3Technology™ has the fastest transient response. This is due to the R3 modulator commanding variable switching frequency during a load transient. Intel® Mobile Voltage Positioning (IMVP) is a smart voltage regulation technology, which effectively reduces power dissipation in Intel® Pentium processors. To boost battery life, the ISL6262A supports DPRSLPVR (deeper sleep), DPRSTP# and PSI# functions, and maximizes the efficiency via automatically enabling different phase operation modes. At heavy load operation of the active mode, the regulator commands the two phase continuous conduction mode (CCM) operation. While the PSI# is asserted with medium load in active mode, the ISL6262A smoothly disables one phase and operates in one-phase CCM. When the CPU enters deeper sleep mode, the ISL6262A enables diode emulation to maximize the efficiency at light load. For better system power management of the portable computer, the ISL6262A also provides a CPU power monitor output. The analog output at the power monitor pin can be fed into an A/D converter to report instantaneous or average CPU power. A 7-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) allows dynamic adjustment of the core output voltage from 0. 300V to 1. 500V. A 0. 5% system accuracy of the core output voltage over-temperature is achieved by the ISL6262A. A unity-gain differential amplifier is provided for remote CPU die sensing. This allows the voltage on the CPU die to be accurately measured and regulated per Intel® IMVP-6+ specifications. Current sensing can be realized using either lossless inductor DCR sensing, or precision resistor sensing. A single NTC thermistor network thermally compensates the gain and the time constant of the DCR variations. |
