AD5235Nonvolatile Memory, Dual 1024-Position Digital Potentiometer | Development Boards, Kits, Programmers | 3 | Active | The AD5235 is a dual-channel, nonvolatile memory, digitally controlled potentiometer with 1024-step resolution, offering guaranteed maximum low resistor tolerance error of ±8%. The device performs the same electronic adjustment function as a mechanical potentiometer with enhanced resolution, solid state reliability, and superior low temperature coefficient performance. The versatile programming of the AD5235 via an SPI®-compatible serial interface allows 16 modes of operation and adjustment including scratchpad programming, memory storing and restoring, increment/decrement, ±6 dB/step log taper adjustment, wiper setting readback, and extra EEMEM for user-defined information such as memory data for other components, look-up table, or system identification information. In the scratchpad programming mode, a specific setting can be programmed directly to the RDAC register, which sets the resistance between Terminal W and Terminal A and Terminal W and Terminal B. This setting can be stored into the EEMEM and is restored automatically to the RDAC register during system power-on.The EEMEM content can be restored dynamically or through externalPRstrobing, and aWPfunction protects EEMEM contents. To simplify the programming, the independent or simultaneous linear-step increment or decrement commands can be used to move the RDAC wiper up or down, one step at a time. For logarithmic ±6 dB changes in the wiper setting, the left or right bit shift command can be used to double or halve the RDAC wiper setting. The AD5235 patterned resistance tolerance is stored in the EEMEM. The actual end-to-end resistance can, therefore, be known by the host processor in readback mode. The host can execute the appropriate resistance step through a software routine that simplifies open-loop applications as well as precision calibration and tolerance matching applications. The AD5235 is available in a thin, 16-lead TSSOP package. The part is guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.APPLICATIONSDWDM laser diode driver, optical supervisory systemsMechanical potentiometer replacementInstrumentation: gain, offset adjustmentProgrammable voltage-to-current conversionProgrammable filters, delays, time constantsProgrammable power supplyLow resolution DAC replacementSensor calibration |
AD5241I2C Compatible Digital Potentiometer | Data Acquisition | 12 | Active | The AD5241/AD5242provide a single-/dual-channel, 256-position, digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) device. These devices perform the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer, trimmer, or variable resistor. Each VR offers a completely programmable value of resistance between the A terminal and the wiper, or the B terminal and the wiper. For the AD5242, the fixed A-to-B terminal resistance of 10 kΩ, 100 kΩ, or 1 MΩ has a 1% channel-to-channel matching tolerance. The nominal temperature coefficient of both parts is 30 ppm/°C.Wiper position programming defaults to midscale at system power on. When powered, the VR wiper position is programmed by an I2C-compatible, 2-wire serial data interface. Both parts have two extra programmable logic outputs available that enable users to drive digital loads, logic gates, LED drivers, and analog switches in their system. The AD5241/AD5242 are available in surface-mount, 14-lead SOIC and 16-lead SOIC packages and, for ultracompact solutions, 14-lead TSSOP and 16-lead TSSOP packages. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended temperature range of −40°C to +105°C.ApplicationsMultimedia, video, and audioCommunicationsMechanical potentiometer replacementInstrumentation: gain, offset adjustmentProgrammable voltage-to-current conversionLine impedance matching |

AD5248256-Position Dual Channel I2C Compatible Digital Resistor | Evaluation Boards | 5 | Active | TheAD5243and AD5248 provide a compact 3 mm × 4.9 mm packaged solution for dual, 256-position adjustment applications. The AD5243 performs the same electronic adjustment function as a 3-terminal mechanical potentiometer, and the AD5248 performs the same adjustment function as a 2-terminal variable resistor. Available in four end-to-end resistance values (2.5 kΩ, 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, and 100 kΩ), these low temperature coefficient devices are ideal for high accuracy and stability-variable resistance adjustments. The wiper settings are controllable through the I2C-compatible digital interface. The AD5248 has extra package address decode pins, AD0 and AD1, allowing multiple parts to share the same I2C, 2-wire bus on a PCB. The resistance between the wiper and either endpoint of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the RDAC latch. (The terms digital potentiometer, VR, and RDAC are used interchangeably.)Operating from a 2.7 V to 5.5 V power supply and consuming less than 6 µA allows the AD5243/AD5248 to be used in portable battery-operated applications. For applications that program the AD5243/AD5248 at the factory, Analog Devices, Inc., offers device programming software running on Windows®NT/2000/XP operating systems. This software effectively replaces the need for external I2C controllers, which in turn enhances the time to market of systems. An AD5243/AD5248 evaluation kit and software are available.
