MAX984Ultra-Low-Power, Open-Drain, Single/Dual-Supply Comparators | Development Boards, Kits, Programmers | 13 | Active | The MAX971–MAX974 and MAX981–MAX984 single/dual/quad low-voltage comparators feature the lowest power consumption available. These micropower devices draw less than 4µA supply current over temperature (MAX971/MAX972/MAX981/MAX982), and include an internal 1.182V ±1% (MAX971/MAX973/ MAX974) or ±2% (MAX981–MAX984) voltage reference and programmable hysteresis.Ideal for 3V or 5V single-supply applications, these devices operate from a single 2.5V to 11V supply (or ±1.25V to ±5.5V dual supplies), and each comparator's input voltage ranges from the negative supply rail to within 1.3V of the positive supply. The single MAX971/MAX981 and the dual MAX973/ MAX982/MAX983 provide a unique, simple method for adding hysteresis without feedback or complicated equations, simply by using the HYST pin plus two resistors. The MAX971–MAX974 and MAX981–MAX984's open-drain outputs permit wire-ORed configurations. Thanks to an 11V output range and separate GND pin for the output transistor (MAX971/MAX974, MAX981/MAX984), these devices are ideal for level translators and bipolar to single-ended converters. For similar devices with complementary output stages, see the MAX921-MAX924 (1% reference) and the MAX931–MAX934 (2% reference).ApplicationsBattery-Powered SystemsLevel TranslatorsOscillator CircuitsThreshold DetectorsWindow Comparators |
MAX98400Stereo, High-Power, Class D Amplifier | Linear | 6 | Active | The MAX98400A/MAX98400B Class D amplifiers provide high-performance, thermally efficient amplifier solutions. The MAX98400A delivers 2x20W into 8Ω loads or 1x40W into a 4Ω load. The MAX98400B delivers 2x12W into 8Ω loads. An integrated limiting circuit prevents output clipping distortion, protects small speakers from transient voltages, and reduces power dissipation.A thermal-foldback feature can be enabled to automatically reduce the output power at above a junction temperature of +120°C. Traditional thermal protection is also available in addition to robust overcurrent protection. The ICs operate from a single 8V to 28V supply and provide a high 67dB PSRR, eliminating the need for a regulated power supply. They offer up to 90% efficiency from a 12V supply.Filterless modulation allows the ICs to pass EN55022B EMI limits with 1m cables using only a low-cost ferrite bead and small-value capacitor on each output. Both devices feature eight-digitally-controlled gain settings.Comprehensive click-and-pop reduction circuitry minimizes noise coming into and out of shutdown. The MAX98400A/MAX98400B are available in 36-pin and 24-pin TQFN packages, respectively, and are specified over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range.ApplicationsLCD MonitorsLCD/PDP TelevisionsMP3 Docking StationsNotebook PCs |
MAX985Micropower, Low-Voltage, UCSP/SC70, Rail-to-Rail I/O Comparators | Audio Amplifiers | 22 | Active | The MAX985/MAX986/MAX989/MAX990/MAX993/MAX994 single/dual/quad micropower comparators feature low-voltage operation and rail-to-rail inputs and outputs. Their operating voltages range from 2.5V to 5.5V, making them ideal for both 3V and 5V systems. These comparators also operate with ±1.25V to ±2.75V dual supplies. They consume only 11µA of supply current while achieving a 300ns propagation delay.Input bias current is typically 1.0pA, and input offset voltage is typically 0.5mV. Internal hysteresis ensures clean output switching, even with slow-moving input signals. The output stage's unique design limits supply-current surges while switching, virtually eliminating the supply glitches typical of many other comparators. The MAX985/MAX989/MAX993 have a push-pull output stage that sinks as well as sources current. Large internal output drivers allow rail-to-rail output swing with loads up to 8mA. The MAX986/MAX990/MAX994 have an open-drain output stage that can be pulled beyond VCCto 6V (max) above VEE. These open-drain versions are ideal for level translators and bipolar to single-ended converters. The single MAX985 is available in a chip-scale package (UCSP™), significantly reducing the required PC board area. The single MAX985/MAX986 are available in 5-pin SC70 packages and the dual MAX989/MAX990 are available in 8-pin SOT23 packages.ApplicationsDigital-Line ReceiversGround/Supply SensingIR ReceiversLevel TranslatorsMobile CommunicationsPortable Battery-Powered SystemsThreshold DetectorsWindow ComparatorsZero-Crossing Detectors |

MAX98502Boosted 2.2W Class D Amplifier with Automatic Level Control | Development Boards, Kits, Programmers | 2 | Active | The MAX98502 is a high-efficiency, Class D audio amplifier that features an integrated boost converter to deliver a constant output power over a wide range of battery supply voltages. The boost converter operates at 2MHz, requiring only a small (2.2µH) external inductor and capacitor. The automatic level control has a battery tracking function that reduces the output swing as the supply voltage drops, preventing collapse of battery voltage. The amplifier has differential inputs and an internal fully differential design. The MAX98502 also features three gain settings (6dB, 15.5dB, and 20dB) that are selectable with a logic input. The MAX98502 is available in a small, 0.5mm pitch 16-bump WLP package (2.1mm x 2.1mm). It is specified over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range.ApplicationsActive Speaker AccessoriesCell PhonesGPS DevicesMobile Internet DevicesSmartphones |
