MAX8586Single 1.2A USB Switch in 3mm x 3mm TDFN | Power Management (PMIC) | 2 | Active | The MAX8586 single current-limited switch controls up to 1.2A to power USB applications and has multiple protection features including thermal shutdown, internal current limiting, and reverse current protection. The thermal shutdown limits junction temperature during a prolonged short or overload condition. The internal current-limiting circuitry protects the input supply against overload and is programmable using an external resistor. The MAX8586 meets all IEC specifications for USB ports. The IC latches off when the output experiences a short circuit for more than 20ms, saving system power. Auto-restart tests the shorted output with a 25mA current to determine if the short still exists. Once the short is removed, the MAX8586 automatically restarts the output. An open-drain fault signal notifies the system that the internal current limit has been reached. A 20ms fault-blanking feature allows the circuit to ignore momentary faults such as those caused when hot-swapping into a capacitive load. An ENRESET input is available to disable the auto-restart function. The MAX8586 features a SEL input that programs ON to be either active high or active low. The IC is supplied in a space-saving, 8-pin, 3mm x 3mm TDFN package.ApplicationsDesktop/Notebook ComputersDocking StationsPDAs and Palmtop ComputersUSB Ports/Hubs |

MAX8593.3V/5V or Adjustable Output, Step-Up DC-DC Converters | Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Regulators | 11 | Active | The MAX856-MAX859 are high-efficiency, CMOS, step-up, DC-DC switching regulators for small, low input voltage or battery-powered systems. The MAX856/MAX858 accept a positive input voltage between 0.8V and VOUTand convert it to a higher, pin-selectable output voltage of 3.3V or 5V. The MAX857/MAX859 adjustable versions accept 0.8V to 6.0V input voltages and generate higher adjustable output voltages in the 2.7V to 6.0V range. Typical efficiencies are greater than 85%. Typical quiescent supply current is 25µA (1µA in shutdown). The MAX856-MAX859 combine ultra-low quiescent supply current and high efficiency to give maximum battery life. An internal MOSFET power transistor permits high switching frequencies. This benefit, combined with internally set peak inductor current limits, permits the use of small, low-cost inductors. The MAX856/MAX857 have a 500mA peak inductor current limit. The MAX858/MAX859 have a 125mA peak inductor current limit.Applications2-Cell and 3-Cell Battery-Operated Equipment3.3V to 5V Step-Up ConversionGlucose MetersMedical InstrumentationPalmtop ComputersPersonal Data Communicators/ComputersPortable Data-Collection Equipment |

MAX8595High-Efficiency, 32V Step-Up Converters with TADerating Option for 2 to 8 White LEDs | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 8 | Active | The MAX8595X/MAX8596X drive up to nine white LEDs with constant current and high efficiency to provide LCD backlighting in cell phones, PDAs, and other handheld devices. The series connection allows the LED currents to be identical for uniform brightness and minimizes the number of traces to the LEDs. The MAX8595X regulates constant LED current over the entire temperature range. The MAX8596X features an ambient-temperature derating function to avoid over-driving the white LEDs during high ambient temperatures, enabling higher drive current below +42°C.A single Dual Mode™ input provides a simple means of brightness adjustment and on/off control. Fast 1MHz current-mode PWM operation allows for small input and output capacitors and a small inductor while minimizing ripple on the input supply/battery. Soft-start eliminates inrush current during startup. The MAX8595X/MAX8596X are available in a space-saving, 8-pin, 3mm x 3mm TDFN package.ApplicationsCell Phones/Smartphonese-Books and SubnotebooksPDAs, Palmtops, and Wireless HandheldsWhite LED Display Backlighting |

MAX8601MHz PWM Boost Converter for 1.5A White LED Camera Flash | Sensors, Transducers | 19 | Active | The MAX8607 white LED boost converter is optimized for camera flash/strobe applications using high-current white LEDs. The MAX8607 integrates a 1MHz PWM boost converter, 1.5A low-dropout (LDO) current regulator, and logic control circuitry for a space-saving LED flash design. Two logic inputs control four modes of operation: shutdown mode reduces the quiescent current to 0.1µA (typ), movie mode supplies up to 360mA of LED current for continuous lighting, flash mode supplies up to 1.5A of LED current for short-duration lighting during an exposure, and disco mode supplies +5V (at up to 1A) to external circuits while driving the LED with a fixed 80mA current. The internal 1MHz boost converter features an adaptive control scheme with an internal switching MOSFET and synchronous rectifier to improve efficiency and minimize external component count. The MAX8607 is available in a 14-pin, 3mm x 3mm TDFN package (0.8mm max height).ApplicationsCamera Flashes/StrobesCell Phones/SmartphonesPDAs and Digital Cameras |
