MAX5854Dual, 10-Bit, 165Msps, Current-Output DAC | Development Boards, Kits, Programmers | 3 | Active | The MAX5854 dual, 10-bit, 165Msps digital-to-analog converter (DAC) provides superior dynamic performance in wideband communication systems. The device integrates two 10-bit DAC cores, and a 1.24V reference. The MAX5854 supports single-ended and differential modes of operation. The dynamic performance is maintained over the entire 2.7V to 3.6V power-supply operating range. The analog outputs support a -1.0V to +1.25V compliance voltage. The MAX5854 can operate in interleaved data mode to reduce the I/O pin count. This allows the converter to be updated on a single, 10-bit bus.The MAX5854 features digital control of channel gain matching to within ±0.4dB in sixteen 0.05dB steps. Channel matching improves sideband suppression in analog quadrature modulation applications. The on-chip 1.24V bandgap reference includes a control amplifier that allows external full-scale adjustments of both channels through a single resistor. The internal reference can be disabled and an external reference can be applied for high-accuracy applications. The MAX5854 features full-scale current outputs of 2mA to 20mA and operates from a 2.7V to 3.6V single supply. The DAC supports three modes of power-control operation: normal, low-power standby, and complete power-down. In power-down mode, the operating current is reduced to 1µA.The MAX5854 is packaged in a 40-pin TQFN with exposed paddle (EP) and is specified for the extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range.Pin-compatible, lower speed, and lower resolution versions are also available. Refer to the MAX5853 (10-bit, 80Msps), the MAX5852 (8-bit, 165Msps), and the MAX5851 (8-bit, 80Msps) data sheets for more information. MAX5860Scalable High-Density Downstream Cable QAM Modulator | RF Modulators | 3 | Unknown | The MAX5860 is an integrated, high-density, downstream cable QAM modulator, digital upconverter (DUC) and RF digital-to-analog converter (RF-DAC). The device performs QAM mapping, pulse shaping and digital RF upconversion of forward-error-correction (FEC) encoded data with full agility and drives a single RF-port using a 14-bit 4.6Gsps DAC. The device digitally synthesizes RF signals with up to 128 DOCSIS-compliant 6MHz QAM channels (or up to 96 8MHz QAM channels). The device has scalable QAM capacity and provides high-density QAM modulation with very low power dissipation (45mW/QAM typical) in a compact 12mm x 17mm footprint. The device accepts FEC-encoded CMOS data (symbols) on up to four 10-bit input ports that accept up to 32 time-interleaved digital data streams each. Each channel features an individually configurable QAM mapper, RRC filter, and arbitrary rate resampler (ARR). The device performs pulse shaping, resampling, interpolation and quadrature modulation of input data, supporting all data rates defined in DOCSIS 3.0 and DVB-C. A cascade of interpolation filters, complex modulators, and channel combiners allow modulation of the signal to any frequency from 47MHz to 1006MHz. Integrated direct digital frequency synthesizers allow positioning of the QAM channels with a resolution of 125Hz. The interpolation filters and resamplers provide linear phase and excellent gain flatness. Output data from the last modulator is fed to a digital-predistortion (DPD) block that can be used to correct distortion in the device’s integrated RF-DAC and output amplifiers external to the device.ApplicationsEdge QAM, CMTS, CCAP, IP-QAMMulti-Dweller Unit Mini-HeadendsRemote PHY, Coax Media Converters |
MAX5861DOCSIS 3.1 High-Density SCQAM and OFDM Downstream Cable Modulator | Development Boards, Kits, Programmers | 2 | Active | The MAX5861 is an integrated, high-density, SCQAM and OFDM downstream cable modulator, digital up-converter (DUC) and RF digital-to-analog converter (RF-DAC). The MAX5861 is DOCSIS 3.1-compliant and is optimized for converged cable access platform (CCAP) hardware. The MAX5861 performs baseband I/Q symbols to RF up-conversion to digitally synthesize a selectable combination of SCQAM and OFDM blocks on a single RF port. A combination of up to six 192MHz blocks of SCQAM or OFDM channels can be powered on at any one time, where a block is defined as either 32 X 6MHz (or 24 X 8MHz) SCQAM channels or an OFDM channel (up to 192MHz wide). The MAX5861 features three differential time-multiplexed input data ports that support LVDS or SSTL 1.2/1.5 in DDR mode. The MAX5861 SCQAM input port A accepts 10-bit Forward Error Correction (FEC)-encoded data for up to 160 (6MHz) individually programmable channels. The SCQAM path performs QAM mapping, root raised cosine (RRC) pulse shaping, and resampling, compliant with ITU-T J.83 Annex A, B, and C. This port also supports 1024-QAM with the use of an offset bias bit. Up to four channels can be operated in RRC filter bypass mode at up to 2.5Msym/s for legacy communications to older generation devices. Each of two available 9-bit OFDM ports, B or C, support up to three 12-bit OFDM IFFT-processing channels. Each IFFT-processing channel supports OFDM blocks of up to 192MHz bandwidth with selectable 4k or 8k subcarriers and up to 4096-QAM modulation options. Each of the two OFDM ports also allow bypassing of the IFFT processing with a single 18-bit I/Q data path to support user-defined modulation at up to 192MHz bandwidth.A cascade of interpolation filters, complex modulators, channel combiners and Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizers (DDFS) up-convert the SCQAM and/or OFDM signals with full frequency agility from 43MHz to 1218MHz. The up-converted spectrum is fed to a Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) block to compensate for distortion performance limitations in the DAC and external output amplifiers.ApplicationsCCAP, Edge QAM, CMTSDOCSIS 3.0/3.1 and DVB-C/C2Multi-Dweller Units (MDU), Mini-HeadendsRemote PHY, Coax Media Converters |
