MAX16984AAutomotive High-Current Step-Down Converter with USB Protection/Host Charger Adapter Emulator | Special Purpose Regulators | 6 | Active | The MAX16984A combines a 5V automotive-grade step-down converter capable of driving up to 3.0A, a USB host charger adapter emulator, and 1 GHz USB protection switches for automotive USB host applications. The USB protection switches provide high-ESD, short-circuit protection and feature integrated host-charger port-detection circuitry adhering to the USB 2.0 Battery Charging Specification BC1.2 battery charging specification and Chinese Telecommunication Industry Standard YD/T 1591-2009. They also include circuitry for iPod®/iPhone®1.0A and iPad®2.4A dedicated charging modes. The HVD+ and HVD- ESD protection features include protection to ±15kV Air/±8kV Contact on the HVD+ and HVD- outputs to the IEC 61000-4-2 model and 330Ω, 330pF ESD model. The high-efficiency step-down DC-DC converter operates from a voltage up to 28V and is protected from load dump transients up to 40V. The device is optimized for high-frequency operation and includes I2C or resistor-programmable frequency selection from 310kHz to 2.2MHz to allow optimization of efficiency, noise, and board space based on application requirements. The fully synchronous DC-DC converter integrates high-side and low-side MOSFETs with an external SYNC input/output, and can be configured for spread-spectrum operation. Skip mode is available in light/no-load conditions to minimize quiescent current. The converter can deliver up to 3A of continuous current at +105°C. The MAX16984A has an integrated spread-spectrum oscillator to improve EMI performanceThe MAX16984A also includes a USB load current-sense amplifier and configurable feedback adjustment circuit designed to provide automatic USB voltage adjustment to compensate for voltage drops in captive cables associated with automotive applications. The MAX16984A limits the USB load current using both a fixed internal peak current threshold of the DC-DC converter and a user-configurable external USB load current-sense amplifier threshold.ApplicationsAutomotive ConnectivityAutomotive Radio and NavigationDedicated USB Power ChargerTelematicsUSB Port for Host and Hub Applications |

MAX1699036V, 2.5MHz Automotive Boost/SEPIC Controllers | DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS Evaluation Boards | 19 | Active | The MAX16990/MAX16992 are high-performance, current-mode PWM controllers with 4µA (typ) shutdown current for wide input voltage range boost/SEPIC converters. The 4.5V to 36V input operating voltage range makes these devices ideal in automotive applications such as for front-end "preboost" or "SEPIC" power supplies and for the first boost stage in high-power LED lighting applications. An internal low-dropout regulator (PVL regulator) with a 5V output voltage enables the MAX16990/MAX16992 to operate directly from an automotive battery input. The input operating range can be extended to as low as 2.5V when the converter output is applied to the SUP input. There are multiple versions of the devices offering one or more of the following functions: a synchronization output (SYNCO) for two-phase operation, an overvoltage protection function using a separate input pin (OVP), and a reference input pin (REFIN) to allow on-the-fly output voltage adjustment. The MAX16990 and MAX16992 operate in different frequency ranges. All versions can be synchronized to an external master clock using the FSET/SYNC input. In addition, the MAX16990/MAX16992 have a factory-programmable spread-spectrum option. Both devices are available in compact 12-pin TQFN and 10-pin µMAX®packages.ApplicationsAutomotive Audio/Navigation SystemsAutomotive LED LightingDashboards |

MAX16997High-Voltage Watchdog Timers with Adjustable Timeout Delay | Supervisors | 4 | Active | The MAX16997/MAX16998 are microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuits for high-input-voltage and low-quiescent-current applications. These devices detect downstream circuit failures and provide switchover to redundant circuitry. See theSelector Guidein the full data sheet for the different versions of this product family. The MAX16997/MAX16998 family has four independent inputs for reset and watchdog functions. SWT and SRT inputs independently set the timeout periods of watchdog and reset timers through external capacitors. RESETIN/EN monitor voltages at respective inputs. A resistive voltage-divider sets the reset threshold. The MAX16998A/B/D generate two output signals, active-low RESET and active-low ENABLE. Active-low RESET asserts whenever RESETIN drops below its threshold voltage or when the watchdog timer detects a timing fault at WDI. Once asserted, and after all reset conditions are removed, active-low RESET remains low for the reset timeout period, tRESET, and then goes high. The MAX16997A generates one output signal (active-low ENABLE) based on the voltage level at EN and the signal at WDI.<.p>The MAX16997A does not have a active-low RESET output. The watchdog is disabled if the voltage at EN is below its threshold. The MAX16997A watchdog timer starts timing when the voltage at EN becomes higher than the preset threshold voltage level. Each time EN rises above the preset threshold voltage, the initial watchdog timeout period is 8 times the normal watchdog timeout period (tWP).The MAX16997/MAX16998 are available in 8-pin lead-free µMAX® packages and are fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.ApplicationsAutomotiveIndustrial |
