DAC08008-Bit D/A Converter | Data Acquisition | 6 | Active | The DAC0800 series are monolithic 8-bit high-speed current-output digital-to-analog converters (DAC) featuring typical settling times of 100 ns. When used as a multiplying DAC, monotonic performance over a 40 to 1 reference current range is possible. The DAC0800 series also features high compliance complementary current outputs to allow differential output voltages of 20 Vp-p with simple resistor loads. The reference-to-full-scale current matching of better than ±1 LSB eliminates the need for full-scale trims in most applications, while the nonlinearities of better than ±0.1% over temperature minimizes system error accumulations.
The noise immune inputs will accept a variety of logic levels. The performance and characteristics of the device are essentially unchanged over the ±4.5V to ±18V power supply range and power consumption at only 33 mW with ±5V supplies is independent of logic input levels.
The DAC0800, DAC0802, DAC0800C and DAC0802C are a direct replacement for the DAC-08, DAC-08A, DAC-08C, and DAC-08H, respectively. For single supply operation, refer to AN-1525.

DAC08088-Bit D/A Converter | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 6 | Active | The DAC0808 is an 8-bit monolithic digital-to-analog converter (DAC) featuring a full scale output current settling time of 150 ns while dissipating only 33 mW with ±5V supplies. No reference current (IREF) trimming is required for most applications since the full scale output current is typically ±1 LSB of 255 IREF/256. Relative accuracies of better than ±0.19% assure 8-bit monotonicity and linearity while zero level output current of less than 4 µA provides 8-bit zero accuracy for IREF>=2 mA. The power supply currents of the DAC0808 is independent of bit codes, and exhibits essentially constant device characteristics over the entire supply voltage range.
The DAC0808 will interface directly with popular TTL, DTL or CMOS logic levels, and is a direct replacement for the MC1508/MC1408. For higher speed applications, see DAC0800 data sheet.

DAC081C0818-Bit Micro Power Digital-to-Analog Converter with an I2C-Compatible Interface | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 4 | Active | The DAC081C08x device is an 8-bit, single-channel, voltage-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that operates from a 2.7-V to 5.5-V supply. The output amplifier allows rail-to-rail output swing and has an 4.5-µsec settling time. The DAC081C081 uses the supply voltage as the reference to provide the widest dynamic output range and typically consumes 132 µA while operating at 5 V. It is available in 6-lead SOT and WSON packages and provides three address options (pin selectable).
As an alternative, the DAC081C085 provides nine I2C addressing options and uses an external reference. It has the same performance and settling time as the DAC081C081. It is available in an 8-lead VSSOP.
The DAC081C081 and DAC081C085 use a 2-wire, I2C-compatible serial interface that operates in all three speed modes, including high-speed mode (3.4 MHz). An external address selection pin allows up to three DAC081C081 or nine DAC081C085 devices per 2-wire bus. Pin-compatible alternatives to the DAC081C081 are available that provide additional address options.
The DAC081C081 and DAC081C085 each have a 16-bit register that controls the mode of operation, the power-down condition, and the output voltage. A power-on reset circuit ensures that the DAC output powers up to zero volts. A power-down feature reduces power consumption to less than a microWatt. Their low power consumption and small packages make these DACs an excellent choice for use in battery-operated equipment. Each DAC operates over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +125°C.
The DAC081C081 and DAC081C085 are each part of a family of pin-compatible DACs that also provide 12- and 10-bit resolution. For 12-bit DACs see theDAC121C081andDAC121C085. For 10-bit DACs see theDAC101C081andDAC101C085.
