LT1180ALow Power 5V RS232 Dual Driver/Receiver with 0.1µF Capacitors | Interface | 5 | Active | The LT1180A/LT1181A are dual RS232 driver/receiver pairs with integral charge pump to generate RS232 voltage levels from a single 5V supply. These circuits feature rugged bipolar design to provide operating fault tolerance and ESD protection unmatched by competing CMOS designs. Using only 0.1µF external capacitors, these circuits consume only 40mW of power, and can operate to 120k baud even while driving heavy capacitive loads. New ESD structures on the chip allow the LT1180A/LT1181A to survive multiple ±10kV strikes, eliminating the need for costly TransZorbs®on the RS232 line pins. The LT1180A/LT1181A are fully compliant with EIA RS232 standards. Driver outputs are protected from overload, and can be shorted to ground or up to ±30V without damage. During shutdown or power-off conditions, driver and receiver outputs are in a high impedance state, allowing line sharing. The LT1181A is available in 16-pin DIP and SO packages. The LT1180A is supplied in 18-pin DIP and SO packages for applications which require shutdown.ApplicationsPortable ComputersBattery-Powered SystemsPower Supply GeneratorTerminalsModems |

LT1184CCFL/LCD Contrast Switching Regulators | Special Purpose Regulators | 6 | Active | The LT1182/LT1183 are dual current mode switching regulators that provide the control function for Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lighting (CCFL) and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Contrast. The LT1184/LT1184F provide only the CCFL function. The ICs include high current, high efficiency switches, an oscillator, a reference, output drive logic, control blocks and protection circuitry. The LT1182 permits positive or negative voltage LCD contrast operation. The LT1183 permits unipolar contrast operation and pins out an internal reference. The LT1182/LT1183 support grounded and floating lamp configurations. The LT1184F supports grounded and floating lamp configurations. The LT1184 supports only grounded lamp configurations.ApplicationsNotebook and Palmtop ComputersPortable InstrumentsAutomotive DisplaysRetail Terminals |

LT1186DAC Programmable CCFL Switching Regulator (Bits-to-Nits™) | Lighting, Ballast Controllers | 3 | Active | The LT11186F is a fixed frequency, current mode, switching regulator that provides the control function for Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lighting (CCFL). The IC includes an efficient high current switch, an oscillator, output drive logic, control circuitry and a micropower 8-bit 50µA full-scale current output DAC. The DAC provides simple "bits-to-lamp current control" and communicates in two interface modes including standard SPI mode and pulse mode. On power-up, the DAC counter resets to half-scale and the DAC configures to SPI or pulse mode depending on theCSsignal level. In SPI mode, the system microprocessor serially transfers the present 8-bit data and reads back the previous 8-bit data. In pulse mode, the upper six bits of the DAC configure as increment-only (1-wire interface) or increment/decrement (2-wire interface) operation depending on the DINsignal level. The LT1186F control circuitry operates from a logic supply voltage of 3.3V or 5V. The IC also has a battery supply voltage pin that operates from 4.5V to 30V. The LT1186F draws 6mA typical quiescent current. An active low shutdown pin reduces total supply current to 35µA for standby operation and the DAC retains its last setting. A 200kHz switching frequency minimizes magnetic component size. Current mode switching techniques with cycle-by-cycle limiting gives high reliability and simple loop frequency compensation. The LT1186F is available in a 16-pin narrow SO package.ApplicationsNotebook and Palmtop ComputersPortable InstrumentsRetail Terminals |

LT1187Low Power Video Difference Amplifier | Linear | 1 | Active | The LT1187 is a difference amplifier optimized for operation on ±5V, or a single 5V supply and gain ≥2. This versatile amplifier features uncommitted high input impedance (+) and (–) inputs, and can be used in differential or single-ended configurations. Additionally, a second set of inputs give gain adjustment and DC control to the difference amplifier. The LT1187’s high slew rate, 165V/μs, wide bandwidth, 50MHz, and ±20mA output current require only 13mA of supply current. The shutdown feature reduces the power dissipation to a mere 15mW and allows multiple amplifiers to drive the same cable. The LT1187 is a low power version of the popular LT1193, and is available in 8-pin miniDIPs and SO packages. For applications with gains of 10 or more, see the LT1189 data sheet.ApplicationsLine ReceiversVideo Signal ProcessingCable DriversTape and Disc Drive Systems |
