MAX8660High-Efficiency, Low-IQ, PMICs with Dynamic Voltage Management for Mobile Applications | Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Regulators | 6 | Active | The MAX8660/MAX8661 power management ICs (PMICs) power applications processors (APs) in smart cellular phones, PDAs, Internet appliances, and other portable devices.Four step-down DC-DC outputs, three linear regulators, and an 8th always-on LDO are integrated with power-management functions. Two dynamically controlled DC-DC outputs power the processor core and internal memory. Two other DC-DC converters power I/O, memory, and other peripherals. Additional functions include on/off control for outputs, low-battery detection, reset output, and a 2-wire I²C serial interface. The MAX8661 functions the same as the MAX8660, except it lacks the REG1 step-down regulator and the REG7 linear regulator. All step-down DC-to-DC outputs use fast 2MHz PWM switching and tiny external components. They automatically switch from PWM to high-efficiency, light-load operation to reduce operating current and extend battery life. In addition, a forced-PWM option allows low-noise operation at all loads. Overvoltage lockout protects the device against inputs up to 7.5V.ApplicationsDigital CamerasPDAs, Palmtops, and Wireless HandheldsPersonal Media PlayersPortable GPS Navigation SystemsSmart Cell Phones |

MAX8664Low-Cost, Dual-Output, Step-Down Controller with Fast Transient Response | Power Management (PMIC) | 3 | Active | The MAX8664 dual-output PWM controller is a low-cost, high-performance solution for systems requiring dual power supplies. It provides two individual outputs that operate 180° out-of-phase to minimize input current ripple, and therefore, capacitance requirements. Built-in drivers are capable of driving external MOSFETs to deliver up to 25A output current from each channel. The MAX8664 operates from a 4.5V to 28V input voltage source and generates output voltages from 0.6V up to 90% of the input voltage on each channel. Total output regulation error is less than ±0.8% over load, line, and temperature. The MAX8664 operates with a constant switching frequency adjustable from 100kHz to 1MHz. Built-in boost diodes reduce external component count. Digital soft-start eliminates input inrush current during startup. The second output has an optional external REFIN2, facilitating tracking supply applications. Each output is capable of sourcing and sinking current, making the device a great solution for DDR applications. The MAX8664 employs Maxim's proprietary peak voltage-mode control architecture that provides superior transient response during either load or line transients. This architecture is easily stabilized using two resistors and one capacitor for any type of output capacitors. Fast transient response requires less output capacitance, consequently reducing total system cost. The MAX8664B latches off both controllers during a fault condition, while the MAX8664A allows one controller to continue to function when there is a fault in the other controller.ApplicationsASIC/CPU/DSP Power SuppliesDesktop and Notebook PCsGraphic CardsNetwork-Power SupplyPOL Power SupplyPrinter Power SupplySet-Top Box Power Supply |

MAX86681.5MHz Dual Step-Down DC-DC Converters with Dual LDOs and Individual Enables | Power Management (PMIC) | 12 | Active | The MAX8667/MAX8668 dual step-down converters with dual low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators are intended to power low-voltage microprocessors or DSPs in portable devices. They feature high efficiency with small external component size. The step-down converters are adjustable from 0.6V to 3.3V (MAX8668) or factory preset (MAX8667) with guaranteed output current of 600mA for OUT1 and 1200mA for OUT2. The 1.5MHz hysteretic-PWM control scheme allows for tiny external components and reduces no-load operating current to 100µA with all outputs enabled. Dual low-quiescent-current, low-noise LDOs operate down to 1.7V supply voltage. The MAX8667/MAX8668 have individual enables for each output, maximizing flexibility. The MAX8667/MAX8668 are available in the space-saving, 3mm x 3mm, 16-pin thin QFN package.ApplicationsCell Phones/SmartphonesDigital Cameras, CamcordersHandheld InstrumentsPCMCIA CardsPDA and Palmtop ComputersPortable MP3 and DVD Players |
