MAX5431±15V Digitally Programmable Precision Voltage-Dividers for PGAs | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 5 | Active | The MAX5430/MAX5431 are digitally programmable high precision resistor arrays for PGAs. The MAX5430/MAX5431 operate from a single +15V supply or dual ±15V supplies, and consume only 35µA supply current. These devices are intended for programmable-gain amplifier (PGA) applications and consist of fixed resistor dividers, digitally controlled contacts with four precision, noninverting gains of 1, 2, 4, and 8 with ratio accuracy of 0.025% (MAX5430A/MAX5431A), 0.09% (MAX5430B/MAX5431B), or 0.5% (MAX5430C/MAX5431C). The MAX5431 includes an on-chip matching resistor for op amp input bias-current compensation. The MAX5430/MAX5431 are available in space-saving 8-pin SOT23 and 10-pin µMAX packages, and specified over the extended temperature range of (-40°C to +85°C).ApplicationsGeneral-Purpose Programmable Noninverting AmplifiersProgrammable Instrumentation Amplifiers |
MAX543232-Tap, Nonvolatile, I²C, Linear, Digital Potentiometers | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 2 | Active | The MAX5432–MAX5435 nonvolatile, linear-taper, digital potentiometers perform the function of a mechanical potentiometer, but replace the mechanics with a simple 2-wire serial interface. Each device performs the same function as a discrete potentiometer or a variable resistor and has 32 tap points. The MAX5432–MAX5435 feature an internal, nonvolatile, electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) that returns the wiper to its previously stored position at power-up. The fast-mode I²C-compatible serial interface allows communication at data rates up to 400kbps, minimizing board space and reducing interconnection complexity. Each device is available with multiple factory-preset I²C addresses (see theOrdering Information/Selector Guidein the full data sheet).Use the MAX5432–MAX5435 in applications requiring digitally controlled resistors. Two resistance values are available (50kΩ and 100kΩ) in a voltage-divider or variable resistor configuration. The nominal resistor temperature coefficient is 35ppm/°C end-to-end, and only 5ppm/°C ratiometric, making the devices ideal for applications requiring a low-temperature-coefficient variable resistor such as low-drift, programmable-gain amplifier circuit configurations. The MAX5432/MAX5433 are available in a 3mm x 3mm 8-pin TDFN package and the MAX5434/MAX5435 are available in a 6-pin thin SOT23 package. The MAX5432–MAX5435 are specified over the extended (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range.ApplicationsLiquid-Crystal Display (LCD) Screen AdjustmentLow-Drift Programmable-Gain AmplifiersMechanical Potentiometer ReplacementsVolume Control |

MAX5436±15V, 128-Tap, Low-Drift Digital Potentiometers | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 2 | Active | The MAX5436-MAX5439 are 128-tap high-voltage (±5V to ±15V) digital potentiometers in packages that are half the size of comparable devices in 8-pin SO. They perform the same function as mechanical potentiometers, but replace the mechanics with a simple digital interface. The digital logic is powered by a separate single +2.7V to +5.25V supply voltage (VCC). The resistor string uses its own analog supplies (VDDand VSS) that require VDD- VSSto be greater than 9V and less than 31.5V. This allows for greater flexibility in voltage ranges that can be used with these devices. Examples of analog supply ranges include not only dual voltages of ±5V to ±15V, but single-supply voltages, such as +10V, +15V, +30V, -30V, and more, as long as the ranges of VDD- VSSand VCC- VSSare met.The MAX5437/MAX5439 include an on-chip, high-voltage, uncommitted amplifier, providing additional reductions in board space and cost. Other features include low 35ppm/°C end-to-end and 5ppm/°C ratio-metric resistor temperature coefficients, a 3-wire SPI™/QSPI™/MICROWIRE™-compatible serial interface, and a power-on reset to midscale. The MAX5436/MAX5438 are available in 10-pin µMAX® packages. The MAX5437/MAX5439 are available in 14-pin TSSOP package. Each device is guaranteed over the extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.ApplicationsAudio Volume ControlData Acquisition SystemsLCD Screen Contrast AdjustmentLow-Drift Programmable-Gain AmplifiersMechanical Potentiometer Replacements |

MAX544+5V, Serial Input, Voltage-Output 14-Bit DACs | Digital to Analog Converters (DACs) Evaluation Boards | 12 | Active | The MAX544/MAX545 are serial-input, voltage-output, 14-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that operate from a single +5V supply. They provide 14-bit performance (±0.5LSB INL and ±0.9LSB DNL) over temperature without any adjustments. The DAC output is unbuffered, resulting in a low supply current of 0.3mA and a low offset error of 0.6mV.The DAC output range is 0V to VREF. For bipolar operation, matched scaling resistors are provided in the MAX545 for use with an external precision op amp (such as the MAX400), generating a ±VREFoutput swing. The MAX545 also includes Kelvin-sense connections for the reference and analog ground pins to reduce layout sensitivity. A 16-bit serial word is used to load data into the DAC latch. The 10MHz, 3-wire serial interface is compatible with SPI™/QSPI™/MICROWIRE™, and it also interfaces directly with optocouplers for applications requiring isolation. A power-on reset circuit clears the DAC output to 0V (unipolar mode) when power is initially applied. The MAX544 is available in 8-pin plastic DIP and SO packages. The MAX545 is available in 14-pin plastic DIP and SO packages.ApplicationsAutomated Test Equipment (ATE)Data AcquisitionDigital Gain and Offset ControlIndustrial Process ControlsInstrumentation |
