The X-NUCLEO-6283A1 is an expansion board for the STM32 Nucleo development boards. It provides a complete evaluation kit allowing anyone to learn, evaluate and develop their applications using the VD6283, a color sensor with advanced light flicker frequency extraction. The VD6283 (1.83 x 1.0 x 0.55 mm) is the smallest 6-channel, ambient light sensor (ALS) on the market. Light measurement is fast and accurate thanks to an individual ADC and readout circuitry for each color channel (Red, Green, Blue, IR, Clear and Visible). The VD6283 uses hybrid color filters with precise responses allowing accurate computation of the correlated color temperature (CCT) and Lux information. The VD6283 can be used for display brightness management or scene light correction. Additionally, the VD6283 can extract light flickering frequencies from 100 Hz to 2 kHz, including LED square signals. The X-NUCLEO-6283A1 expansion board is compatible with the STM32 Nucleo-64 board family, and with the Arduino UNO R3 connector layout. Several ST expansion boards can be superposed through the Arduino connectors, which allows, for example, the development of VD6283 applications with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi interfaces.

The VD6283TX (1.83 x 1.0 x 0.55 mm) is the third version of ST's ambient light sensors with advanced light flicker extraction. Light measurement is fast and accurate thanks to an individual ADC and a readout for each color channel. The VD6283TX uses hybrid color filters with precise responses which enhance the accuracy of the correlated color temperature (CCT) and Lux performance. The VD6283TX can be used to assist camera white-balance in less than 30 ms. With a patented architecture and a high-performance photodiode design, the VD6283TX can extract light flickering frequencies to enhance camera experience, and avoid "banding effects" on videos or viewfinder modes. Additionally, the VD6283TX is the only sensor able to extract different light flicker waveforms, including LED square signals that can run flicker operations simultaneously with ALS operations.

The VD6283TX-SATEL breakout boards can be used for easy integration into customer devices. Thanks to the voltage regulator and level shifters, the VD6283 breakout boards can be used in any application with a 1.8 V to 5 V supply. The PCB section supporting the VD6283 module is perforated so that developers can break off the mini PCB for use in a 1.8 V supply application using flying leads. This makes it easier to integrate the VD6283TX-SATEL breakout boards into development and evaluation devices due to their small size.

An embedded Bayer and monochrome data pre-processor integrates a wide range of image enhancement functions, designed to ensure high image quality. An advanced synchronization facility allows stereo and multi-camera systems to work synchronously, minimizing system latency and motion temporal mismatch artifacts.
