LT1166Power Output Stage Automatic Bias System | Power Management (PMIC) | 1 | Active | The LT1166 is a bias generating system for controlling class AB output current in high powered amplifiers. When connected with external transistors, the circuit becomes a unity-gain voltage follower. The LT1166 is ideally suited for driving power MOSFET devices because it eliminates all quiescent current adjustments and critical transistor matching. Multiple output stages using the LT1166 can be paralleled to obtain higher output current.Thermal runaway of the quiescent point is eliminated because the bias system senses the current in each power transistor by using a small external sense resistor. A high speed regulator loop controls the amount of drive applied to each power device. The LT1166 can be biased from a pair of resistors or current sources and because it operates on the drive voltage to the output transistors, it operates on any supply voltage.ApplicationsBiasing Power MOSFETsHigh Voltage AmplifiersShaker Table AmplifiersAudio Power Amplifiers |
LT1167Single Resistor Gain Programmable, Precision Instrumentation Amplifier | Linear | 13 | Active | The LT1167 is a low power, precision instrumentation amplifier that requires only one external resistor to set gains of 1 to 10,000. The low voltage noise of 7.5nV/√Hz(at 1kHz) is not compromised by low power dissipation (0.9mA typical for ± 2.3V to ±15V supplies). The part’s highaccuracy (10ppm maximum nonlinearity, 0.08% max gain error (G = 10)) is not degraded even for load resistors as low as 2k. The LT1167 is laser trimmed for very low input offset voltage (40μV max), drift (0.3μV/°C), high CMRR (90dB, G = 1) and PSRR (105dB, G = 1). Low input bias currents of 350pA max are achieved with the use of superbeta processing. The output can handle capacitive loads up to 1000pF in any gain configuration while the inputs are ESD protected up to 13kV (human body). The LT1167 with two external 5k resistors passes the IEC 1000-4-2 level 4 specification. The LT1167, offered in 8-pin PDIP and SO packages, requires significantly less PC board area than discrete multi op amp and resistor designs. The LT1167-1 offers the same performance as the LT1167, but its input current characteristic at high common mode voltage better supports applications with high input impedance (see the Applications Information section).ApplicationsBridge AmplifiersStrain Gauge AmplifiersThermocouple AmplifiersDifferential to Single-Ended ConvertersMedical Instrumentation |
LT1168Low Power, Single Resistor Gain Programmable, Precision Instrumentation Amplifier | Instrumentation, Op Amps, Buffer Amps | 7 | Active | The LT1168 is a micropower, precision instrumentation amplifier that requires only one external resistor to set gains of 1 to 10,000. The low voltage noise of 10nV/√Hz(at 1kHz) is not compromised by low power dissipation (350µA typical for ±15V supplies). The wide supply range of ±2.3V to ±18V allows the LT1168 to fit into a wide variety of industrial as well as battery-powered applications. The high accuracy of the LT1168 is due to a 20ppm maximum nonlinearity and 0.4% max gain error (G = 10). Previous monolithic instrumentation amps cannot handle a 2k load resistor whereas the nonlinearity of the LT1168 is specified for loads as low as 2k. The LT1168 is laser trimmed for very low input offset voltage (40µV max), drift (0.3µV/°C), high CMRR (90dB, G = 1) and PSRR (103dB, G = 1). Low input bias currents of 250pA max are achieved with the use of superbeta processing. The output can handle capacitive loads up to 1000pF in any gain configuration while the inputs are ESD protected up to 13kV (human body). The LT1168 with two external 5k resistors passes the IEC 1000-4-2 level 4 specification. The LT1168 is a pin-for-pin improved second source for the AD620 and INA118. The LT1168, offered in 8-pin PDIP and SO packages, requires significantly less PC board area than discrete op amp resistor designs. These advantages make the LT1168 the most cost effective solution for precision instrumentation amplifier applications.ApplicationsBridge AmplifiersStrain Gauge AmplifiersThermocouple AmplifiersDifferential to Single-Ended ConvertersDifferential Voltage to Current ConvertersData AcquisitionBattery-Powered and Portable EquipmentMedical InstrumentationScales |
LT1169Dual Low Noise, Picoampere Bias Current, JFET Input Op Amp | Amplifiers | 1 | Active | The LT1169 achieves a new standard of excellence in noise performance for a dual JFET op amp. For the first time low voltage noise (6nV/√Hz) is simultaneously offered with extremely low current noise (1fA/√Hz), providing the lowest total noise for high impedance transducer applications. Unlike most JFET op amps, the very low input bias current (5pA Typ) is maintained over the entire common mode range which results in an extremely high input resistance (1013Ω). When combined with a very low input capacitance (1.5pF) an extremely high input impedance results, making the LT1169 the first choice for amplifying low level signals from high impedance transducers. The low input capacitance also assures high gain linearity when buffering AC signals from high impedance transducers. The LT1169 is unconditionally stable for gains of 1 or more, even with 1000pF capacitive loads. Other key features are 0.6mV VOSand a voltage gain over 4 million. Each individual amplifier is 100% tested for voltage noise, slew rate (4.2V/µs), and gain-bandwidth product (5.3MHz).The LT1169 is offered in the S8 and N8 packages.A full set of matching specifications are provided for precision instrumentation amplifier front ends. Specifications at ±5V supply operation are also provided. LT1170100kHz, 5A, 2.5A and 1.25A High Efficiency Switching Regulators | Power Management (PMIC) | 8 | Active | The LT1170/LT1171/LT1172 are monolithic high power-switching regulators. They can be operated in all standard switching configurations including buck, boost, flyback, forward, inverting and "Cuk." A high current, high efficiency switch is included on the die along with all oscillator, control and protection circuitry. Integration of all functions allows the LT1170/LT1171/LT1172 to be built in a standard 5-pin TO-3 or TO-220 power package as well as the 8-pin packages (LT1172). This makes them extremely easy to use and provides "bust proof" operation similar to that obtained with 3-pin linear regulators. The LT1170/LT1171/LT1172 operate with supply voltages from 3V to 60V, and draw only 6mA quiescent current. They can deliver load power up to 100W with no external power devices. By utilizing current-mode switching techniques, they provide excellent AC and DC load and line regulation. The LT1170/LT1171/LT1172 have many unique features not found even on the vastly more difficult to use low power control chips presently available. They use adaptive antisat switch drive to allow very wide ranging load currents with no loss in efficiency. An externally activated shutdown mode reduces total supply current to 50μA typically for standby operation.ApplicationsLogic Supply 5V at 10A5V Logic to ±15V Op Amp SupplyBattery UpconverterPower Inverter (+ to –) or (– to +)Fully Floating Multiple Outputs |
