Description
General part information
PCA9541 Series
PCA9541AD/01,118 is a 2-to-1 I²C-bus host selector with interrupt logic and reset. It is designed for high reliability dual host I²C-bus applications where system operation is required, even when one host fails or the controller card is removed for maintenance. The two host (for example, primary and back-up) are located on separate I²C-buses that connect to the same downstream I²C-bus server devices. I²C-bus commands are sent by either I²C-bus host and are used to select one host at a time. Either host at any time can gain control of the server devices if the other host is disabled or removed from the system. The failed host is isolated from the system and does not affect communication between the on-line host and the server devices on the downstream I²C-bus. The interrupt outputs are used to provide an indication of which host has control of the bus.
