Description
General part information
HMC129 Series
The HMC129 devices are double-balanced mixers that are available in a chip (HMC129), a hermetic surface mount package (HMC129G8), and a RoHS compliant SMT package, all of which can be used as upconverters or downconverters in the 4 GHz to 8 GHz band. The HMC129 chip can be integrated directly into hybrid microwave integrated circuits (MICs) without dc bias or external baluns to provide an extremely compact mixer. The HMC129 and the HMC129LC4 are ideally suited for applications where small size, no dc bias, and consistent IC performance are required. These mixers can operate over a wide LO drive input of 9 dBm to 15 dBm. They perform equally well as bi-phase modulators or demodulators. The HMC129G8 is a passive diode/balun type mixer with high dynamic range. Noise figure is essentially equal to the conversion loss. This mixer can handle larger signal levels than most active mixers due to the high third order intercept. MMIC implementation provides exceptional balance in the circuit resulting in high LO/RF and LO/IF isolations. The HMC129LC4 eliminates the need for wire bonding, allowing use of surface mount manufacturing techniques.Typical ApplicationsMicrowave and very small aperture terminal (VSAT) radiosUnlicensed National Information Infrastructure (U-NII) and high performance radio LAN (HiperLAN)Military and spaceTest equipment
