NCP1253PWM Controller, Current Mode, for Offline Power Supplies | Power Management (PMIC) | 4 | Active | The NCP1253 is a highly integrated PWM controller capable of delivering a rugged and high performance offline power supply in a tiny TSOP-6 package. With a supply range up to 28 V, the controller hosts a jittered 65 kHz or 100 kHz switching circuitry operated in peak current mode control. When the power on the secondary side starts to decrease, the controller automatically folds back it's switching frequency down to a minimum level of 26 kHz. As the power further goes down, the part enters skip cycle while limiting the peak current. To avoid sub harmonic oscillations in CCM operation, adjustable slope compensation is available via the series inclusion of a simple resistor in the current sense signal. Besides the auto-recovery timer-based short-circuit protection, an Over Voltage Protection on the Vcc pin protects the whole circuitry in case of optocoupler destruction or adverse open loop operation. |
NCP1254PWM Controller, Current Mode, for Offline Power Supplies | AC DC Converters, Offline Switches | 1 | Obsolete | The NCP1254 is a highly integrated PWM controller capable of delivering a rugged and high performance offline power supply in a TSOP-6 package. With a supply range up to 35 V, the controller hosts a jittered 65-kHz switching circuitry operated in peak current mode control. When the power on the secondary side starts to decrease, the controller automatically folds back its switching frequency down to a minimum level of 26 kHz. As the power further goes down, the part enters skip cycle while freezing the peak current setpoint. To help building rugged converters, the controller features several key protective features: a non-dissipative Over Power Protection for a constant maximum output current regardless of the input voltage, two latched over voltage protection inputs - either through a dedicated pin or via the Vcc input and a dual-level auto-recover/latched overload/short-circuit timer. The controller architecture is designed to authorize a transient peak power excursion when the current setpoint hits the limit. At this point, the switching frequency is increased form 65 kHz to 130 kHz until the peak event disappears. The timer duration is then modulated as the converter crosses a peak power excursion mode (long) or undergoes a short circuit (short). |
NCP1255PWM Controller, Current Mode, for Offline Power Supplies Featuring Peak Power Excursion | Evaluation Boards | 3 | Active | The NCP1255 is a highly integrated PWM controller capable of delivering a rugged and high performance offline power supply in a SOIC-8 package. To help build rugged converters, the controller features several key protective features: a brown-out, a non-dissipative Over Power Protection for a constant maximum output current regardless of the input voltage, two latched over voltage protection inputs 0 either through a dedicated pin or via the Vcc input - and finally, the possibility to externally adjust an auto-recovery timer duration. The controller architecture is arranged to authorize a transient peak power excursion when the peak current hits the limit. At this point, the switching frequency is increased from 65 kHz to 130 kHz until the peak requirement disappears. The timer duration is then modulated as the converter crosses a peak power excursion mode (long) or undergoes a short circuit (short). |
NCP1256Low Power Offline PWM Current Mode Controller with Brown-Out Protection | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 1 | Active | The NCP1256 includes everything to build cost-effective switch mode power supplies ranging from a few watts up to several tens of watts. Housed in a tiny TSOP-6 package, the part can be supplied up to 30 V. It hosts a jittered 65 or 100-kHz switching circuitry operated in peak current mode control. When the power in the secondary side starts to decrease, the controller automatically folds back its switching frequency down to a minimum level of 26 kHz. As the power further goes down, the part enters skip cycle while limiting the peak current. NCP1256 comes with several protection features such as a timer-based auto-recovery short circuit protection, lossless OPP, and an easily adjustable Brown Out (BO) pin. Two inputs are provided to latch off the part in a practical way, for instance with OVP and OTP events. Several options exists to chose latch or auto-recovery. |
NCP12700Ultra Wide Input Current Mode PWM Controller | Integrated Circuits (ICs) | 1 | Active | The NCP12700 is a fixed frequency, peak current mode, PWM controller containing all of the features necessary for implementing single-ended power converter topologies. The device features a high voltage startup capable of operating over a wide input range (9 – 120/200 V MSOP10/WQFN10) and supplying at least 20 mA to provide temporary bias to VCC during system startup. The controller offers an adjustable soft-start, input voltage UVLO protection, and an adjustable Over-Power Protection circuit which limits the total power capability of the circuit as the input voltage increases, easing the system thermal design. The UVLO pin also features a shutdown comparator which allows for an external signal to disable switching and bring the controller into a low quiescent state. |
NCP1271PWM Controller, Soft-Skip™ Standby, with Adjustable Skip Level and External Latch | PMIC | 4 | Active | The NCP1271 represents a new, pin to pin compatible, generation of the successful 7 pin current mode NCP12XX product series. The controller allows for excellent stand by power consumption by use of its adjustable Soft Skip mode and integrated high voltage startup FET. This proprietary Soft Skip also dramatically reduces the risk of acoustic noise. This allows the use of inexpensive transformers and capacitors in the clamping network. Internal frequency jittering, ramp compensation, timer based fault detection and a latch input make this controller an excellent candidate for converters where ruggedness and component cost are the key constraints. |
NCP1282High-Performance Active Clamp/Reset PWM Controller Featuring HV Start-up | Power Management (PMIC) | 1 | Obsolete | The NCP1282 is a voltage mode controller designed for ac-dc or dc-dc converters requiring high efficiency and low parts count. This controller incorporates two in phase outputs with an overlap delay to prevent simultaneous conduction and facilitates soft switching. The main output is designed for driving a forward converter primary MOSFET. The secondary output is designed for driving an active clamp circuit MOSFET, a synchronous rectifier on the secondary side, or an asymmetric half bridge circuit. The NCP1282 reduces component count and system size by incorporating high accuracy on critical specifications such as maximum duty cycle limit, undervoltage detector and overcurrent threshold. Two distinctive features of the NCP1282 are soft-stop and a cycle skip current limit with a time threshold. Soft-stop circuitry powers down the converter in a controlled manner if a severe fault is detected. The cycle skip detector enables a soft-stop sequence if a continuous overcurrent condition is present. Additional features found in the NCP1282 include line feedforward, frequency synchronization up to 1.0 MHz, cycle by cycle current limit with leading edge blanking (LEB), independent under and overvoltage detectors, adjustable output overlap delay, programmable maximum duty cycle, internal startup circuit and soft-start. |
NCP1288Controller, Fixed Frequency, Current Mode, for Flyback Converters | AC DC Converters, Offline Switchers | 1 | Obsolete | The NCP1288 is a new generation of the NCP12xx fixed-frequency current-mode controllers featuring a high-voltage start-up current source, pin to pin compatible with the previous generation. Due to its proprietary Soft-Skip™ mode combined with frequency foldback, the controller exhibits excellent efficiency in light load condition while still achieving very low standby power consumption. This Soft-Skip feature also dramatically reduces the risk of acoustic noise, which enables the use of inexpensive transformers and capacitors in the clamping network. Internal frequency jittering, ramp compensation, and a versatile latch input make this controller an excellent candidate for converters where ruggedness and components cost are the key constraints. In addition, the controller includes a new high voltage circuitry that combines a startup current source and a brown-out / line OVP detector able to sense the input voltage either from the rectified ac line or the dc filtered bulk voltage. Finally, due to a careful design, the precision of critical parameters is well controlled over the entire temperature range (-40°C to +125°C), enabling easier design and increased safety (e.g. ±5% for the peak current limit, ±7% for the oscillator). |
NCP1294PWM Controller for Flyback or Forward Converters | AC DC Converters, Offline Switchers | 1 | Obsolete | The NCP1294 fixed frequency flyback PWM controller contains all of the features necessary for basic flyback, forward or boost operation. This PWM controller has been optimized for high frequency primary side control operation. In addition, this device includes such features as: Soft Start, accurate duty cycle limit control, less than 50uA startup current, over and under voltage protection, and bidirectional synchronization. The NCP1294 is available in a SOIC-16 and TSSOP-16 surface mount packages. |
