Loadstar Sensors, Inc., established in 2004, pioneered the development of capacitive load cells with USB and wireless digital output. Their Plug and Sense technology delivers high sensitivity force measurement in mechanically rugged, low-profile packages that connect directly to computers without external electronics.
Unlike traditional resistive strain gauge load cells, Loadstar's capacitive technology measures force through changes in capacitance between parallel plates. This approach enables higher sensitivity, smaller form factors, and lower manufacturing costs at scale. Their iLoad series provides fully integrated load cells with calibrated UART or USB outputs for immediate data acquisition.
