The MLA Series family of Transient Voltage Surge Suppression devices is based on the Littelfuse Multilayer fabrication technology. These components are designed to suppress a variety of transient events, including those specified in IEC 6100-4-2 or other standards used for Electromagnetic Compliance (EMC). The ML Series is typically applied to protect integrated circuits and other components at the circuit board level. The wide operating voltage and energy range make the MLA Series suitable for numerous applications on power supply, control and signal lines. The MLA Series is manufactured from semiconducting ceramics, and is supplied in a leadless, surface mount package. The ML Series is compatible with modern reflow and wave soldering procedures. It can operate over a wider temperature range than zener diodes, and has a much smaller footprint than plastic-housed components.

The MLA Automotive Series is typically applied to protect integrated circuits and other components at the circuit board level. The wide operating voltage and energy range make the MLA Automotive Series suitable for numerous applications on power supply, control and signal lines. The MLA Automotive Series is manufactured from semiconducting ceramics, and is supplied in a leadless, surface mount package. The MLA Automotive Series is compatible with modern reflow and wave soldering procedures. A miniature, normally open switch with a 15.24mm long x 2.54mm diameter (0.600" x 0.100") glass envelope. Capable of switching 200Vdc at 20W with close-differential characteristics. Available sensitivity range of 17-38 AT. High insulation resistance of 1010 ohms minimum and contact resistance of less than 100 milliohms. Available in surface mount version (MLSM-3). Ideally suited for reed relays, security, metering, limit sensing, telecom and office equipment applications. Will handle lamp loads up to 2W @ 14V with no suppression circuitry.
