MAX8845V/3.3V or Adjustable, Low-Dropout, Low-IQ, 200mA Linear Regulator with Standby Mode | Power Management (PMIC) | 5 | Active | The MAX882/MAX883/MAX884 linear regulators maximize battery life by combining ultra-low supply currents and low dropout voltages. They feature 200mA output current capability at up to +125°C junction temperature and come in a 1.5W SOIC package. The 1.5W package (compared to 0.47W for standard SOIC packages) allows a wider operating range for the input voltage and output current. The MAX882/MAX883/MAX884 use a p-channel MOSFET pass transistor to maintain a low 11µA (15µA max) supply current from no-load to the full 200mA output. Unlike earlier bipolar regulators, there are no PNP base current losses that increase with output current. In dropout, the MOSFET does not suffer from excessive base currents that occur when PNP transistors go into saturation. Typical dropout voltages are 220mV at 5V and 200mA, or 320mV at 3.3V and 200mA.The MAX882 features a 7µA standby mode that disables the output but keeps the reference, low-battery comparator, and biasing circuitry alive. The MAX883/MAX884 feature a shutdown (OFF) mode that turns off all circuitry, reducing supply current to less than 1µA. All three devices include a low-battery-detection comparator, fold-back current limiting, reverse-current protection, and thermal-overload protection. The output is preset at 3.3V for the MAX882/MAX884 and 5V for the MAX883. In addition, all devices employ Dual Mode™ operation, allowing user-adjustable outputs from 1.25V to 11V using external resistors. The input voltage supply range is 2.7V to 11.5V.For low-dropout linear regulators with output currents up to 500mA, refer to the MAX603/MAX604 data sheet.Applications1.25V to 11V Adjustable Regulators3.3V and 5V RegulatorsAutomotive ElectronicsHigh-Efficiency Linear RegulatorsPagers and Cell PhonesPortable InstrumentationSolar-Powered Instruments |
MAX8840Ultra-Low-Noise, High PSRR, Low-Dropout, 150mA Linear Regulators in µDFN | Power Management (PMIC) | 20 | Active | The MAX8840/MAX8841/MAX8842 ultra-low-noise, low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators are designed to deliver up to 150mA continuous output current. These regulators achieve a low 120mV dropout for 120mA load current. The MAX8840 uses an advanced architecture to achieve ultra-low output voltage noise of 11µVRMSand PSRR of 54dB at 100kHz.The MAX8841 does not require a bypass capacitor, hence achieving the smallest PC board area. The MAX8842 output voltage can be adjusted with an external divider. The MAX8840/MAX8841 are preset to a variety of voltages in the 1.5V to 4.5V range. Designed with a p-channel MOSFET series pass transistor, the MAX8840/MAX8841/MAX8842 maintain very low ground current (40µA).The regulators are designed and optimized to work with low-value, low-cost ceramic capacitors. The MAX8840 requires only 1µF (typ) of output capacitance for stability with any load. When disabled, current consumption drops to below 1µA.The MAX8840/MAX8841/MAX8842 are available in a tiny 1mm x 1.5mm x 0.8mm µDFN.ApplicationsBase StationsBluetooth® Portable Radios and AccessoriesCellular and Cordless PhonesDigital CamerasPDA and Palmtop ComputersPersonal StereosPortable and Battery-Powered EquipmentWireless LANs |

MAX8856USB/AC Adapter, Li+ Linear Battery Charger with Integrated 50mΩ Battery Switch in TDFN | Power Management (PMIC) | 2 | Active | The MAX8856 complete 1-cell Li+ battery charge-management IC operates from either a USB port or AC adapter. It integrates a battery disconnect switch, current-sense circuit, PMOS pass element, and thermal-regulation circuitry, while eliminating the external reverse-blocking Schottky diode, to create a simple and small charging solution. The charging sequence initiates from power-OK indication, through prequalification, fast-charge, top-off charge, and finally charging-complete indication for single-cell Li+ batteries. Charging is controlled using constant current, constant voltage, or constant die-temperature (CCCVCTJ) regulation for safe operation in handhelds. Two logic inputs (active-low EN1, active-low EN2) select suspend mode, 100mA, 500mA, or ≤ 1A input current limits to comply with USB requirements. Proprietary thermal-regulation circuitry limits the die temperature to +100°C to prevent excessive heat on the system PC board. Additional safety features include an NTC thermistor input (THM) to protect the battery. A 3.5V to 4.2V SYS output, in conjunction with the low-RDSONbattery switch, powers the system even when the battery is deeply discharged or not installed. The IC also offers a +3.3V/500µA output (VL), a charging status flag (active-low CHG), and an input-supply detection flag (active-low POK). The MAX8856 operates from a +4.25V to +5.5V supply and includes undervoltage lockout below +3.4V and overvoltage protection up to +14V.ApplicationsCellular Phones, Smartphones, PDAsDigital Cameras, MP3 PlayersUSB Appliances, Charging Cradles and Docks |
